I took these pictures a few days ago to post on my Instagram for an #ootd shot. I bribed my nephew to take them by taking a ton of pictures of him first lol, and as I was scrolling through them I saw they were pretty good and decided to post them. And why in black and white you ask; I have been playing around with the filters in VSCO and was really digging this one, so why not!!

I have been all about easy looks lately; combining simple pieces that I can pair together with sneakers during the day for running errands and then pumps for a night out with friends. I used to be all about changing clothes from day to night but as I have gotten older…ain’t nobody got time for that!

What are your favorite simple pieces?

…..because when I have nothing else to wear, the basics always pull thru

IMG_0523[1]

As always, half of my closet was on my bed and I still could not figure out what I wanted to wear. As the the time drew near for my exit off to work, I grabbed a white blouse, jeans and a blazer; done!

It’s funny how the most simple basics always pull through in the clutch.

You just got a Michael Kors watch, a dope handbag or an amazing pair of shoes………quick tell me what is the first thing you do? Most likely you wait for the right light, try to get the perfect angle and snap a photo for IG to share with all your followers. We all do it; as a matter of fact I am waiting for the weather to cooperate with me so I can take a picture of my new J. Crew blue shoes I got a few weeks ago!!

More and more brands are realizing the power of the “social media word of mouth” trend and are looking to real people to help them market their product. West Egg is a new fashion site that has realized this and serves as a middle man between the brand and consumer and rewards YOU for doing what you would do anyway! The idea behind the site is simple, you purchase pieces you love from your favorite brands for up to 80% off the retail price and in return they ask you snap a pic for IG tagging the brand and using the #becomethemodel; it’s a win-win!!

Since we do it anyway, why not get rewarded for it?!?! West Egg has a wide range of brands from Michael Kors to Givenchy, so there is something for everyone!!

For my readers only, West Egg is giving you 10% off your first purchase using the code ‘wearwestegg”, so head over to their site and #becomethemodel!

Thanks SO much for Reading!

I have become obsessed with wearing old sweatshirts. I found one that I thought I was dope while thrifting a few months ago and now when I go I make sure I look to see what other ones I can add to my growing collection. A few weeks ago I styled a vintage Adidas one I found and now I am styling this vintage Hampton one. I am a proud supporter of any HBCU’s, especially Livingstone College and Grambling State University, the two HBCU’s I attended!!

I think the best way to style sweatshirts is with a pair of ripped skinny jeans and heels or a fresh white pair of chucks; plain and simple. This sweatshirt is over-sized, you know how I love anything over-sized and already wonderfully worn in. This is a super chic and comfy look I would wear out hanging with my girls or on a date; well not a first one maybe like the third or fourth.

This look has definitely become one of my go-to’s during the winter months!

I am obsessed with blazers! I love how you can just throw one on and in an instant look polished and pulled together. I am always on the hunt for my next one…as if I need any more lol and I found it in this vintage tuxedo jacket. I found it from one of my fav little shops on Etsy called simplicityisbliss. This shop has a wonderful selection of beautifully curated vintage items and when I saw this jacket I knew it had to be mine.

Its my new favorite jacket!

Tailor Made

I had a friend who only gets his dress shirts and suits tailored made; I never really understood that. In my mind you go to the store, pick out what you want in your size and be on your way. He would tell me “Once you get something tailored to fit you, you will understand what I am talking about!”

A few weeks ago, I got my chance.

eShakti, is a online retailer that allows you to tailor their designs to fit you perfectly. The process is simple, you pick the piece you want, input your exact measurements and 7 days later you have something that is made to fit you at your doorstep.  I have to admit, I was a bit scared diving into my first tailored experience over the internet. What if they ziged when I said zag, what if they went up when I was sure I said down. I remember going with that friend to have a suit tailored for him and it was a long process. This was to take a few strokes of my keyboard and poof I’m all done, but I decided to give it a go and I’m glad I did! The dress I picked was not only more stunning in person, but it fit me like a glove! I have plenty of dresses and I always have to give them little nip/tuck, but this one was perfection. After this I think I will have my underwear tailored lol!

I am a vintage gal, so I love how many of the pieces have a very vintage feel. This dress reminds me of something straight out of the 1940’s but with a very modern twist. I’m obsessed with all the little details of this dress, it fit’s my personal style and is a piece I will have for many years to come.

Years ago I stole my dad’s Adidas track suit and wore it to school; I was the coolest girl in town that day! And so started my love for this brand. Cut to about 5 years later….how old do you thing I am (wink) and I found this lovely in my local thrift and snatched it up; it took me back to high school instantly and the day I was too cool for school lol!

Note to self: Find that track suit!!!!
