That One Piece

What’s that one piece for you?

Every woman has that one piece. The one you wear everyday or only on special occasions. The one that has the best story behind it. The one you will never get rid of. The one you pass down to your daughter. For me that one piece is a pair of vintage Weiss earrings I got from an estate sale.

I was not really on the the hunt for anything on that particular day, just browsing but when I saw them I knew I had to have them. I went in like a ninja, grabbed them off the table and held on to them for dear life. I quickly went to pay for them and literally for the rest of the day, I stared at them. It would be another 2 years before I actually wore them for a ball I was attending, but when I took them out out for their debut, they got plenty of oooh and awws.

This is a piece I will wear on my wedding day, the piece I will pass on to my future daughter. The piece I will never get rid of.

Tailor Made

I had a friend who only gets his dress shirts and suits tailored made; I never really understood that. In my mind you go to the store, pick out what you want in your size and be on your way. He would tell me “Once you get something tailored to fit you, you will understand what I am talking about!”

A few weeks ago, I got my chance.

eShakti, is a online retailer that allows you to tailor their designs to fit you perfectly. The process is simple, you pick the piece you want, input your exact measurements and 7 days later you have something that is made to fit you at your doorstep.  I have to admit, I was a bit scared diving into my first tailored experience over the internet. What if they ziged when I said zag, what if they went up when I was sure I said down. I remember going with that friend to have a suit tailored for him and it was a long process. This was to take a few strokes of my keyboard and poof I’m all done, but I decided to give it a go and I’m glad I did! The dress I picked was not only more stunning in person, but it fit me like a glove! I have plenty of dresses and I always have to give them little nip/tuck, but this one was perfection. After this I think I will have my underwear tailored lol!

     

I am a vintage gal, so I love how many of the pieces have a very vintage feel. This dress reminds me of something straight out of the 1940’s but with a very modern twist. I’m obsessed with all the little details of this dress, it fit’s my personal style and is a piece I will have for many years to come.

NoteStream!

Let me start off by saying I’m not an app person. A friend of mine used to hijack and download all the latest apps on my phone for me. I would keep them for about 5 seconds and delete them off my phone for one reason or another. I have a few trusted apps I kept and NoteStream has now joined the ranks!

NoteStream can be described as only one thing “Learning on the go”. No matter where you are, you can pull out your phone and search through the more than 10 category of “Notes” on this app and get versed in things like music, beer or fashion. I was personally happy about the “Beer Note” as beer was a gift I got someone for their birthday. I was able to search through the notes, find the one that I needed and was able to learn more information; just that simple! The articles are written by people who are experts in that particular area and make you fell like you are talking to your really smart friend! And if you don’t see a category that you are sure will peak peoples interest, use the “Suggest A NoteStream” feature and submit your idea for the next Note!
